Turma da Mônica Jovem - Cartoon Network

In 2018, I was invited to join a major production led by Lighstar Studios in partnership with Mauricio de Sousa Produções, taking on the role of art director for the animated TV show Turma da Mônica Jovem. This was a huge challenge, as the characters are cultural icons in Brazil and deeply loved by their fans. My responsibility was to adapt the entire cast of characters into the desired animation style, as well as design all the backgrounds, props, and overall visual identity for the 26 episodes produced for Cartoon Network. The series premiered in 2019 and was an absolute success. Here I share some of the backgrounds, special scenes, and character designs I created for the project. Beyond its creative challenges, this project carried significant cultural importance. Turma da Mônica is one of the most iconic comic book series in Brazil, and bringing these beloved characters into a new animated format meant honoring their legacy while introducing them to a new generation of viewers. The collaboration between Lighstar Studios and Mauricio de Sousa Produções ensured a production of high artistic and technical quality, and I am proud to have contributed to this milestone in Brazilian animation.
